What are the benefits of a prepaid funeral plan?
A Serene Funeral Plan is a simple and practical way to arrange and pay for your funeral in advance giving both you and your loved ones’ peace of mind. The benefits of a prepaid funeral plan are as follows:
- Your funeral your way You can add in as much or as little detail as you wish, ensuring your funeral will be conducted exactly how you want. You can choose your music, service details, what you are dressed in, etc. to reduce the decision making from your loved ones when the time comes.
- Protection against rising costs The funeral directors costs are fixed at today’s prices, so they will not increase over time.
- Peace of mind By having a prepaid funeral plan in place you can alleviate the emotional stress from your loved ones as your wishes are documented saving them from having to guess.
- Reduce the financial burden As well as fixed funeral director’s costs there is an allowance for third-party expenses (cremation fees, burial fees, flowers, officiant’s fee) these are costs associated with a funeral out with the funeral director’s services. If the allowance attributed doesn’t cover these costs, your family may need to make an additional contribution.
- FSCS Scheme As Serene Funeral Planning are regulated and authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) the payments you make to Serene Funeral Planning are covered under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, offering compensation and continuity of your plan if Serene cannot fulfil it.
Serene’s team of expert funeral plan advisors are ready to help you every step of the way, and when the time comes J.A. Clark & Son will be here to support your loved ones.

Willow Cromer
Our Cromer and Highsted Willow coffins are handcrafted from the sustainable willow using traditional methods. The willow is woven onto a self-supporting frame, which gives the coffins exceptional strength whilst at the same time remaining incredibly light. These coffins are manufactured in the EU using cottage industry methods, in which people work in their own homes to create these products. The round ended Cromer and the traditional shaped Highsted both come in two different colours (light and natural).

English Willow Round
Our English Willow coffins are beautifully handwoven by skilled craftsmen with long family histories in willow weaving, using traditional methods and great attention to detail. Willow has been grown on the Somerset levels for centuries and as it regenerates easily once harvested, it has become a popular sustainable choice. Different colours are achieved by using natural methods of drying, boiling or stripping of the willow bark. For a more colourful appearance, the willow strands can also be dyed in a range of natural colours. Each of these has a plait at the edge of the lid, a stripe in the middle and at the bottom for a pleasing contrast.
